My dad's selling me his car. How do I find out how much to pay for the tags and stuff?

I%26#039;m not sure exactly what I%26#039;ll have to pay for. I already have insurance set up. I have to go do the paperwork and stuff after I get the title. Will my dad be able to leave that license plate so I won%26#039;t need to buy a new one? He%26#039;s got a company vehicle for himself so he doesn%26#039;t need one. I live in Florida. Does anyone know how I can find out what I%26#039;ll need to pay for this stuff?

you should ask your dad.....
Reply:call the local dmv and tell them you need to know how much it will cost to transfer the title to your name and get current registration. they will ask how much you%26#039;re paying for it and where you live. inside city limits or out as tax rates will be different
Reply:In most states, transfers within the immediate family don%26#039;t have to pay sales tax. The only real fees may be smog test, title in your name and any ad val taxes the state may have (although they usually aren%26#039;t due until your next birthday). I would guess the total at less than $100.
