I had a moment of rebellion...yeah I decided to really stick it to %26quot;the man%26quot; and I ripped off all the tags on my mattresses. Now that I have come back to reality I am scared....is the fuzz gonna be after me now? Should I go into hiding? Help me please..I%26#039;m too cute to go to prison.......
What is the fine for ripping the tags off your mattress?
You know, this is an excellent question. Truly excellent because I have never seen the part about except by the consumer as it pertains to mattress tags. I just went to check my three new mattresses to make sure and you%26#039;re right it say penalty under law. Do not remove etc. So I am not going to remove it. I am a law abiding Canadian Citizen and I don%26#039;t want to be arrested and ruin my lily white reputation and career prospects over mattress tags. I just don%26#039;t see how this can be worth getting a rap sheet. I somehow don%26#039;t want to be known as a mattress ripper or a vandal or a misfit to society. I have a habit of hanging my arm off the bed at night and it scratches me but even if it cuts me the alternative is too horrid to imagine. I advise you to sew it back on right now and crazy glue it as well for good measure. If it doesn%26#039;t want to adhere being a laminated tag and all then try varnish or staples or any adhesive you can think of. If that doesn%26#039;t work then go to the hardware store and look for the stuff that sticks ceramic tiles to concrete floors-that should do it. But if all else fails you can come back to y! answers and ask the knowledgeable folk here for advice. It will cost you 5 points but it%26#039;s better than going to jail or prison.
Reply:As long as you own the mattress, you%26#039;re allowed to rip them off.

Reply:u can rip it off as long as it is Ur mattress. no fines no nothing i riped mine off all the beds in the house.
Reply:cute; but you only need to worry if youre planning on selling it.
Reply:That would depend on the State you live and if you SELL the
mattress. I%26#039;ll give you an example in New York and another in
California...1st New York: A man and woman were found guilty of this crime in 1979 in Queens. Interesting enough he was being watched by FBI. They needed a search warrant but couldn%26#039;t find legal grounds...except one neighbor came forward and said he purchased a mattress from him %26amp; they asked to see the mattress and there were NO tags ( they now had grounds to search his home) The 2nd was a woman if LA,
she sold a mattress in her shop..the buyer took the mattress home and noticed the tags were missing and called the police...the store owner was fined 10 days later for $25.dollars %26amp; had to take the mattress back
Reply:if you already purchased the matress, you can tear them off... duh. it says tag not to be removed exept by the CONSUMER, and that would be you. you jsut cant remove the tag until you buy it.
