In Petco, the parakeets have blue and green tags on their legs. What does this mean?

Does it tell your parakeets gender?

sounds like a %26#039;family band%26#039; which is what some breeders use to keep track of which pair had what babies (the parents and babies will all have the same color band on) MOST bands how ever will have the State they were bred(born) in, The breeders intials, the year it was born(thats it just the year), and another set of numbers which is that particular birds number for example on my bands my last baby born so far this year is number 17) so her band has my state intials, my breeding intials the year 08 and the number 17 Meaning she was the 17th baby born to me in 2008

Some bands are from the Budgie Parakeet Association and they are certain colors and will have ABS on them, the color of their bands determins the year it was born

Some bands are just stainless steel and have no color but still have info (like for my quakers) one has IL(born in illinois), then 3 letters (breeders intitals) then 95 then 57 meaning he was the 57th quaker born in 1995 to the breeder he came from.
Reply:no you can tell sex by the color of there cere the area where their nostrils are males are blue females brown or pink the bands are put on by breeders some tell the hatch date some don%26#039;t my parakeets are from petco and there bands are just the breeders id number
Reply:The birds are banded. Usually bands tell aviary name state and sometimes hatching date. If been sexed can also tell that info. Depends what breeder has put on bands. Mine had breeder and state and yr.
Reply:That is what i would have thought , unless it is an age or history code?
