What can I do if the tags on my car are registered to someone else?

Okay so last night I was flaged down becuase my brake light wasn%26#039;t working. When the officer ran my plates, he said my tag expired 12/06 but I had 12/07 tag on my windshield. He said his computer showed that the tag I had, was registered to someone else. Well, where I live the police aren%26#039;t exactlly known for caring about the truth, so I thought I could get the ticket easliy dismissed. When I got home I checked the paper work I had got when I got the tag and it DID say someone elses name on it! This was obviously a mix up at the tax office, what can I do?

I would head back to the office with all your paperwork and get the problem fixed.
Reply:i think u should call ur insurance company for your car or the compeny u get ur tags from and try to clear it up
Reply:If you got the title to your car then you can go to the Highway deptment and tell them dat your car plate is registered in somemoney elses name and they can straighting things out
Reply:Someone has yours. Straighten it out.
Reply:Call up your insurance company and ask them what to do.
Reply:go to local dmv and apply for a lost title
Reply:The mix up was that you accepted someone else%26#039;s license plates. Take your paperwork directly to the DMV, and correct the mistake. Apparently, someone has your plates. I find it hard to believe that two people didn%26#039;t notice the error.
Reply:mix up in tax office.common sense tells you to go back to the tax office
Reply:Go on the lam and lay low, until this blows over. You don%26#039;t want to fall prey to some dishonest cop. Next thing you know, we%26#039;ll be watching your story on America%26#039;s Most Wanted.

Good luck and good-bye.
