How much is the fine for expired tags (parked car) in CA?

I got a ticket for expired tags in CA - I got a fix-it ticket for the same offense a couple years ago and it was $10. The ticket I got last night was for $135! This seems far too steep. Does anyone know what the actual penalty is? This is besides all the fees with the DMV, I just want to know if this one ticket is right.

Yes, the bail amount sounds about right based on the California Superior Court Uniform Bail Schedule. You can still treat it like a %26quot;fix-it%26quot; ticket and get it signed off by peace officer or the DMV. It would then cost you about $10 for the administrative fee. You would be responsible for the $135 if you fail to respond to the citation within the time limit decribed on the citation.
Reply:Was the fine just for expired tags? It would be different for each city. Check the Department of Parking and Traffic for your city for a listing of fines.
