the little chip so if they are lost they can scan for them.
how much to do they cost?
i live in ohio if that makes any difference?
How much do the ID tags to put in dogs cost?
I purchased my last 2 on ebay, avid chips with prepaid registration for about $15 each from a rescue group. My vet implanted them (still sealed) free during my dogs next checkup.
Shelters, rescues and humane societies often have reduced cost clinics for vaccinations and chipping. Remember you have to register the chip or the chip will do no good. Also make sure you buy the brand of chip that is most used in your area to increase the chance that if found their scanner will read your chip. Not all chips are on the same frequency. If you move or you or your emergency contacts change addresses or phone numbers make sure you update the info where the chip is registered.
Its a good idea to have at least one out of area contact for emergencies just on the chance that there is a local disaster. For example if you lived where a hurricane hit and all of your emergency contacts were local family/friends also affected by the hurricane it leaves them with no way to contact any of you. Having an out of state friend/realative or even the dogs breeder would give them a way to contact someone when your entire area is having a problem.
Reply:I%26#039;ve heard around $50. When a dog is lost, and animal control happens to pick it up, they scan the animal to see if it has a chip on it, and view the owner%26#039;s info. It%26#039;s not like in that movie Firewall, where you can track your lost pet, via GPS.
Reply:micro chipping for my dogs was 25.00 each. i had it done at the local shelter in Salem, Indiana. worth it.
Reply:here in missouri they cost 50 dollars they are real handy if your dog gets lost id recommend one
Reply:call around.. I would go for either AVID chips, or the HomeAgain. Avid is ussually around $50, while I%26#039;ve gotton a quote of $35 for the HA. Some vets may charge an exam fee also to insert the chip, ussually around $30
It also costs around $15 to register the chip.. dont forget to do that! If you dont register, then your information will not be linked to your chip. I have heard stories of pets being found, but the owner forgot to register, or update the chip.. and the owner couldnt be contacted!
HA offers some kind of yearly membership that includes emergency insurance.. should your lost pet need medical care for injury/illness that it recieved while lost, HA will cover up to $3000. They are running a special on the yearly membership for under $20 right now. Also phone calls to the APCA poison controll is free to Home Again members (normally costs $55). You can register any chip thru this yearly program.
Also try calling around to your humane society and local rescues. I have seen microchipping clinics done for around $30 before.
I wouldnt use the chips that the petsmart (banfield) vet offers. Those run on a different frequency than the Avid or HA. Almost all shelters have a scanner that will read the Avid and/or HA chips.. very few shelters have scanners that can reat the banfield chips.
Reply:their called microchips and their around 30-60 depending on the vet. most people get it inserted while being spayed/neutered because its painful without anesthetics.
Reply:Our vet charges $50, but the pound in our area(L.A.) does it for free on certain days. You could ask your local pound if they have free microchipping.
Reply:Cost to implant the microchips vary from place to place. Many times the least expensive place to get them is your local animal shelter.
The cost to register them with the companies cost between $12-20.
Reply:Ours cost £15 or $30 with our vet. The company cover advertising costs and a reward of £200 ($400) if my dog goes missing, but I think that%26#039;s another £5 a year
