How do you remove those security tags from clothing?

I know this sounds kind of skeezy, but honestly I just bought a lot of clothes for school, and I have a couple sweatshirts and the lady at the counter must%26#039;ve forgot to take them off. The alarm didn%26#039;t go off when I left the store (I don%26#039;t even know if it has one), but... I need to get those things off, and I don%26#039;t think I%26#039;ll have time tomorrow to stop at the mall before I have to drive to college for the year. My dad tried with some random tools to no avail. Anybody know how to remove them? They%26#039;re the offwhite rectangular ones with the pin connecting it to the shirt, no ink or anything. Thanks

Go back to the store with the receipt and tell them what happened.
Reply:No thanks little boy! BTW I didn%26#039;t say you did steal them, someone else could have and you could have bought them. You were the one who didn%26#039;t want to take them back to the store that is why so many people figured they were %26quot;Probably%26quot; stolen. Report It

Reply:Well since everyone here seems so damn quick to judge people, I%26#039;ll have you know that the dingbat at hollister left the tag on my $29 shirt yesterday, and I, an Eagle Scout, simply pried the tag off with a fork when I discovered it, because I know the difference between magnetic and ink tags Report It

Reply:I would say very carefully cut it off with a very sharp knife.
Reply:I removed one once with a hacksaw.
Reply:just show them the receipt when you take them in thats the only way to get them off
Reply:what they said.
Reply:Take them back to the store or else you%26#039;ll ruin the clothing.
Reply:The easiest way is to PAY for things, not steal %26amp; then ask someone to help you.
Reply:Make time and take the clothing back to the store, show them your receipt, and have them take the tag off. Don%26#039;t risk ruining your clothes.
Reply:go back to the store, tell them your sorry it wont happen again and offer to pay double the price so they don%26#039;t send you to jail for shoplifting (unless it was more than 100$ worth then its petty larceny) P.S. don%26#039;t steal

OR you could use a sledgehammer or a powered hack saw.
Reply:You will need to go to the store. there could be ink in the tag and it will spoil clothes. Each store has a special device to remove these tags. The alarms did not go off because it wasn%26#039;t a sensor tag. Make the time to go to store and bring receipt store will not remove it without it! I am a former LPM (Loss Prevention Manager) and I know of what I speak. You could remove the device but better safe than sorry.
Reply:cut it
Reply:most aren%26#039;t for %26#039;alarms%26#039;, just a nuisancee so u don%26#039;t want to steal it and worry about this scenerio later.

working in retail myself, sorry, not going to tell u the trick, but if u can%26#039;t get back to the same store but do have the price/store tags intact on the garments and receipts you can take it to any other store that has the same security tags and they MIGHT remove it for you when u show them aforementioned tags/receipts. we have been known to do it before as a show of good will.
Reply:Well if you try to remove it yourself, you will damage the clothing.

And remember, those tags are the property of the store.
Reply:The EF toenail cutters will do the trick. I%26#039;ve been there. The lady at the counter didn;t remve my tags before. It%26#039;s a pain trying every tool to try and get those things off.

Reply:your not gonna want to remove them urself....they have ink in them lil thangs....so...prob dont wanna go that route....but if you cant do it b4 going to skool....is there a location when your skool is?****
Reply:stop stealing from deartment stores body! and start paying for crap like the rest of us have to.
Reply:apparently they take them off using some sort of magnet ...
Reply:Yes I know how to get them off however I get a feeling that they are stolen clothes therefor I am not going to tell you. If they are not stolen then its not going to hurt you to take them back to the store with the receipt and have them remove it for you.

I know lots of people who make it a habit to steal clothes and they have that problem but they know how to get them off. That how I know how to remove them cause I asked them before.
Reply:All you have to do is pull them apart. Try using plyers to pry them apart. Hope this helps
