What's the deal with those illegal to remove tags?

Why is there a law against removing those do not remove tags from furniture and stuff? WHY!?

What's the deal with those illegal to remove tags?
It provides information to you the consumer that allows you to contact the manufacture or provides other legal information. You as the end consumer may remove the tag anyone else along the chain (store, manufacturer) are not permitted to remove the tag.
Reply:Maybe you should actually read one. If you did you would see that it is legal for the consumer to remove them. It is only illegal for the dealer to remove them. They are there as evidence that the product is new. If it is missing, consumers know it is used.
Reply:It's only illegal for the dealer to remove those tags.
Reply:it's only against the furniture stores, the consumers are allowed to cut them off.
Reply:you can remove them after you buy it
Reply:i don't know. but after the item has been brought home, nothing feels better than ripping them off. and it feels even better if you yell, "take that, big brother!" while you do it. haha
Reply:Because when you buy them you are entered into a nationwide data base. So when ever those people dump them on the side of the road when are finished using them, the police can check on the tag information and find the person who dumped the mattress!!!! ;-)
