Can you renew your car tags without your registration paper?

I lost my registration paper to my vehicle and need to get my tags renewed, what does someone have to do to get their registration back to get the tags?

Can you renew your car tags without your registration paper?
Just go to DMV and take your License plate numbers and that should be it
Reply:Try the DMV online. A lot of states let you renew online and you should be able to get the info they need in a couple of different places.
Reply:You just need your drivers license and social security card. If your ssn is printed on your drivers license then that's all you need. At least here in Ohio.
Reply:Do you still have the title?
Reply:YES YOU CAN BECAUSE THEY HAVE ALL OF THAT STUFF ON THE COMPUTER.
Reply:go to your motor vehicle dpt they will help you
Reply:Sure can, go to the DMV website.
Reply:Go on your state DMV website to see the requirements. It's easier than calling them.
Reply:Yes, in most states (if not all) having the VIN number and your current address should be enough.
Reply:Check your local DMV, every state may be different when it comes to renewing expired tags and the required documents needed to do so
