I am a new hunter and am confused on where you can get big game tags and what not?

I heard you have to go into a raffle in california to get your big game tags. I am also a youth and want to know where I can apply for special youth hunts. Please explain the entire process I am really confused!

Try your local Wal-Mart or sporting goods store. You will first have to complete a hunter's safety course, and then submit proof of successful completion and a fee to the location you choose. More than likely, this will also require the presence of an adult.
Reply:try www.fwp.mt.gov you might not hunt Montana this year but you might as well check out other states. we have $5 raffle tickets for Bighorn Sheep, Moose %26amp; Mountain Goat and if you win you can hunt "any" hunting area that is open. usually a sheep, moose or goat tag is only good in one area.
Reply:most sporting goods stores carry them. Or you can go direct to the department of fish and game or check their website. Hunting regs are also available at most sporting goods stores and they explain your questions pretty well.

Good luck
Reply:Most hunting regs are online - however - it's nice to have a printed copy handy so you can easily page through.

Just go to Yahoo and type in state of california. Click one of the top links to the official state site, then follow links to the hunting regulation area. Most states are set up to buy your hunting license and register for a drawing permit online. Not very difficult, but, you will need a credit card.

Bear in mind, if you win a drawing permit - good chance you won't be able to apply for it again the next year - and some for the rest of your life. So, only apply for ones you are prepared to use if you really do win.

Hope this helps!
