When you get you puppy rabies shot, arent you supposed to get one of those collar tags?

i never got one for my boxer from my vet when we had him vaccinated.

In Los Angeles county. After puppy have the last shot. We got a paper proves the puppy have all the required vaccine and rabies shot.





Then we have to send the prove and money to county animal control. License and tag will mail to us later.
Reply:you should recieve a madalion/tag from the place your dog was vaccinated at. If you recieved a certificate that is generally enough. But if you really want it, you can call your vet to verify that they give them out and that just didn't forget to give yours.

Reply:You should have some proof of the shot from your vet. Depending on where you live, they either give you the tag or you have to get it yourself. Here (Chatham co, ga) you get the tag at the vet if you live in another county, but if you live in and go to a vet in Chatham, you get 2 copies of the rabies certificate-One for your records and one to mail in with the appropriate payment (based on age and if altered-spay/neuter-or not) and they send you back the tag. Also, depending on where you live, it may be once a year or longer. Here, it's a shot and registration/tag every year. Some places have 2 or 3 year policies. You should be able to just call your vet's office- anyone qualified to answer the phone should be able to answer this question (appropriately for your local standards, that is).

Reply:yes u are supposed to get the tags for ur dog when rhhey get the rabbies shot . call ur vet and ask him to hgive you one . it should be redone every year or two .

Reply:Did you get the papers showing you got him vaccinated? You are supposed to get a red blue sliver green or black tag to show. So yes you are supposed to have one. Call the vet to see why you did not get one.
Reply:dogs get two sets of rabbies shots the firsttime. then you will get them after the second set

Reply:Yes you are. In the county that I live in the vet issues the tag with the date, county and a # which is recorded with the county. You might want to check that out with your vet.
