When the gas company red tags a furnace, and say it needs to be double walled, what does this mean?
It means the flue pipe must be double walled. This is basically a pipe inside a pipe.
Reply:In my area a red tag means if you don't fix the specified problem in the right amout of time, the gas will be shut off, and the unit replaced.





Get a good gasfitter to fix the problem!
Reply:you cannot use that furnace until you fixed that problem.
Reply:the exhaust pipe needs to be double walled to prevent the heat from the pipe to catch surrounding areas on fire.
